TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENT CENTRES (TDC)
U6–U13
The Technical Development Centre is the starting point of the Bows Player Pathway, providing a structured and supportive environment for players of all abilities.
Our sessions are designed to help players build confidence, develop fundamental skills, and enjoy the game in a positive and engaging setting.
PART OF THE BOWS PLAYER PATHWAY
The Technical Development Centre forms the foundation of our overall programme.
It provides players with the platform to develop their technical ability before progressing into our Elite Performance Centre (EPC) or Academy Programme at the appropriate stage of their development.
Every player progresses at their own pace, and our pathway allows them to move into more advanced environments when they are ready.
OUR APPROACH
At this stage, the focus is on developing strong technical foundations in a pressure-free environment.
We prioritise:
- Ball mastery and control
- Confidence in possession
- Decision making
- Creativity and expression
Sessions are designed to maximise time on the ball, ensuring players are constantly engaged and learning.
BUILDING CONFIDENCE & ENJOYMENT
We believe that enjoyment and confidence are key to long-term development.
Our environment encourages players to:
- Play without fear of mistakes
- Try new skills
- Build confidence in their ability
By removing pressure and focusing on development, players are able to grow both technically and personally.
My son has learnt how to play with freedom and express himself on the pitch…this has improved his confidence in school too
SESSION STRUCTURE
All sessions are delivered by FA-qualified coaches and follow a structured format, ensuring consistency across all centres.
Sessions typically include:
- Individual technical work
- Small-sided games
- Skill-based practices
- Game-related scenarios
This allows players to develop their skills in realistic and enjoyable environments.
PROGRESSION
Players within the Technical Development Centre are regularly assessed through ongoing coaching observation.
Where appropriate, players may be:
- Invited into the Elite Performance Centre (EPC)
- Progressed into the Academy Programme
This ensures every player is given the opportunity to develop within the right environment for their ability and readiness.
