At Bows, our Academy provides a structured environment for players aged U8 to U16, designed to support long-term development both on and off the pitch. Our programme is built around a clear pathway, ensuring every player trains and competes in the right environment for their age and stage of development.

THE ACADEMY PATHWAY
From first steps in team football through to competitive performance environments, our Academy is structured into four key phases:
Development Phase (U8–U9)
5v5 Format
This phase introduces players to Academy football in a supportive and engaging environment.
Focus:
Individual technical development
Confidence on the ball
Introduction to structured team play
Programme Includes:
Weekly Academy training
Structured fixture programme
Festival and tournament opportunities
Transition Phase (U10–U11)
7v7 Format
Players begin their transition into more structured team football, developing their understanding of the game.
Focus:
Applying techniques in game situations
Decision making and teamwork
Introduction to competitive fixtures
Programme Includes:
Weekly training sessions
Regular fixtures (including JPL Central Venue)
Continued individual development
Youth Development Phase (U12–U13)
9v9 Format
At this stage, players develop a deeper understanding of the game, including tactical awareness and positional roles.
Focus:
Tactical development
Positional understanding
Game intelligence
Programme Includes:
Competitive league fixtures
Structured training programme
Increased responsibility and accountability
Performance Phase (U14–U16)
11v11 Format
This phase prepares players for the next level, focusing on performance, consistency, and progression.
Focus:
High-performance training environment
Position-specific development
Preparing for opportunities beyond grassroots football
Programme Includes:
Competitive league football
Advanced training sessions
Exposure to higher-level opportunities

HOW PLAYERS ENTER THE ACADEMY
Players can join the Academy through:
Academy Trials
Identification through our Technical Development Centre (TDC)
Invitation via our Elite Performance Centre (EPC)
Our pathway allows players to progress at the right time, based on their development and readiness.
